Ross Birkbeck successfully represented HMRC in the First Tier Tribunal, and in the Upper Tribunal as respects a permission to appeal application, in the taxpayers appeal against a refusal by HMRC to grant the taxpayer a hardship application in respect of disputed customs duty. The case concerned the scope of relevant evidence and the application of the Ferrazzini principle.
