Fully Subscribed – Free Seminar – Private Client Tax: New draft clauses and pre-April planning to deal with them – 12 January 2017
Old Square Tax Chambers are hosting an afternoon private client tax seminar to be held on 12 January 2017. James Kessler QC, Rory Mullan and Oliver Marre will be speaking on the New draft clauses published December 2016 and what needs to be done pre-April to deal with them.
These new draft clauses contain many surprises. They are the most significant change to the taxation of foreign domiciliaries and offshore trusts since 2008. The talks will focus on the planning decisions which need to be made and implemented before 6 April 2016.
The seminar is to be held from 4.00 pm to 6.15 pm at the Royal College of Surgeons, 35-43 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London WC2A 3PE and the timetable will be as follows:
4.00 – 4.15 Tea & Coffee
4.15 – 4.50 Rory Mullan – Section 87 TCGA changes; capital payments to non-residents; close family charge; onward gifts; rebasing, cleansing and planning implications; EU law issues.
4.50 – 5.25 Oliver Marre – Definition of deemed domicile; planning for protected trusts.
5.25 – 6.00 James Kessler QC – IHT on residential property: the new rules and what to do about them.
6.00 – 6.15 Question to the speakers followed by drinks
Drinks will be hosted immediately after the seminar at which you will have an opportunity to meet the speakers and other members of Old Square Tax Chambers.
The seminar is free of charge and two hours of CPD points have been applied for from the BSB and SRA.
